I've acquired an '82 GL wagon that needs a head. In my garage is the '81DL that has about 20,000mis. since valve job (150,000mis. on car). '81 seized a rod bearing, although it had oil and water. '82 was overheated which warped the head (about .0024" gap). I bought it at auction for $250. Body is straight and interior is clean. I have a used '80 motor that I plan to put in the '81. My plan is to use the '81 head, having the extra holes milled for the '82 sensors as well as have it surfaced if the machine shop determines that it is usable. I did start the '82 up -it started right away. It looks as if the o-ring at water pump/ heater pipe connection was leaking and the cause for overheating. Any input as to head compatability, and/or any problems that I might encounter other than Volvo's usual stubborn qualities? I'd appreciate it. I guess this sight has allowed me to procrastinate long enough-back to the juggling act..
