I have a small-block Chevy I'd like to put in a 145... 140-160 1971

I'm brand new to this board, so if it is offensive for Volvophiles to contemplate a Chevy V8 engine in a Volvo wagon, I apologize in advance.

My goal is to build the ultimate "sleeper;" a 145 with 300+ horsepower. I also want to use this car as my daily driver, so I want to do a real sanitary conversion. In other words, I plan on upgrading the rear axle to handle the power, along with the rest of the driveline. I will probably have a custom axle built (maybe a Currie 9") that will allow the factory rear disc brakes, control arms and bolt pattern, so I can use stock wheels, and stock-size tires (with a higher speed rating, of course).

Have any of you ever done a conversion like this? I'd sure like to hear about your experiences. I welcome all comments, questions and anything else anyone would like to say on the subject.

I'm very familiar with Chevys, but Volvos are new to me (although my mom had a '73 145 automatic, which was rather lethargic), so I will be lurking around the 'Board to learn more.

You have a real nice site, here!

Dave
