Some time over the past week, some one has tried to force my door lock with a screwdriver or similar. The lock just about works with the key, but the outside covering, and the little flap that covers the hole, are really trashed.
So, before I attempt to take the door apart, does any one know if those parts of the lock are separte from the lock itself? And what's the easiest way to get the lock out, or fix the damage?
I'm glad they failed to get into the car, and didn't consider putting a window through. I'm not sure why they'd want to break in though. The car looks pretty good for it's age, but not really worth stealing for resale. No face on the radio, and decent speakers are under stock grilles. No valuables in the car. It's not a turbo, so not much joy ride factor. It's alarmed and had a decent 'crook-lock' on! Robbery? Smuggling? or just a ride home? Probably the latter knowing some of the low-life I've encountered in the area.
Thanks for the input on the transmission question, I'll report on the effects of Amsoil synthetic ATF in a worn, stiff & whinning M47, when I change the ATF in a few weeks.
