Where is the Fuel Filter located? 200 1979

I can't find the fuel filter. Its suppose to be cylinder shaped and mounted on the firewall (drivers side). Tried tracing the lines from what I believe is the fuel pump (must be the pump because it has a line feeding into the carb.)and it has nothing on it - just continued through the firewall.
