Tensioner replacement - before I screw up? 200 92

Allright, I'm installing a new cam and I need to replace the tensioner pulley- 160K and it's never been replaced. The cover is plastic consisting of 2 or 3 parts. The back portion of cover is behing the cam gear and tensioner spring base. The base of the tensioner spring is a T-shaped barrel with a dual flat sided pin inserted into the block/head. The spring containing portion of the tee extends to the tensioner pulley assembley - all one piece. I know there is a hole to allow positioning of a pin to take pressure off the spring and pulley assembly. In order to replace the tensioner pulley do I just pry the old pulley back after loosening the pulley nut and installing a pin in the spring. Or do I remove the entire tee fiting spring and all to replace. By looking at the cam pulley I should be able to remove the cam pulley and bend the plastic forward to remove the cam/snout. Any help would be greatful.
