I have a 1986 240 with a B230 FI engine w/AW71 tranny.
The car was running fine one minute, then all of the sudden the engine had no power.
Here's my problem:The car start and idles fine, but when the throttle is opened, it dies. If I baby the throttle, I can get it up above 3000 RPM.
This is what I've done so far:
1)I checked the fuel pump, it works and sounds fine.
2)I thought the fuel filter might be clogged, so I took it off and blew it out. A little dirt came out, but seems to flow fine.
3)I exchanged my wife's '86 240 fuel regulator with mine. Her car works fine, same problem with mine.
4)Checked fuel injector's. They're all clicking away.
This is what I think is wrong: I think the fuel pump is bad. I don't have the correct gauges to check the pressures.
Any suggestions? Could it be something else(fuel injectors, computer, etc.)? Should I start by changing the fuel filter? Any suggestions on how to make a pressure gauge setup?
