1989 240 DL Wagon
I need to take my Gislaved Snows off. I decided on either the Michelin MX4 Rain Force, or the Pirelli P400's. Has anyone at this board tried both these tires on their 240? If yes which do you prefer?
The Pirelli P400 has gotten first place in Consumer Reports (CR) twice in four years. The first time CR reviewed the P400 they said it was the best, except for in snow. Pirelli complained and discovered that CR used artificial snow. This time [supposedly] they used real snow, and that is why the P400 now has a good snow rating.
Anyway, I have always liked Michelin tires, but I was disappointed to see that the Michelin MX4 Rain Force tires did not do well on wet cornering and braking without ABS (which my 89, 240 does not have). So I am concerned about that.
Both tires are rated much the same, with a similar warranty, and same features. The Michelin is more expensive though.
Anyone have any real life experience with these tires on their 240 wagon, especially a 1989 (assuming there may be suspension differences among the various 240 years)?
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Robert
