180 Miles per tank? Whats up? 200 1989

Sup everyone. I love my Volvo (bass machine) very much. I am currently only 170-180 mpg per tank. I run normal unleaded gas. What are some things I myself could check (I myself am not that skilled) or get my mechanic to check? I have a heavy foot, but shouldn't be getting around 12-13 mpg should I? Thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.
