fuel problems 140-160 1978

Wow, I have gone through way to much already for this problem.

I'll start at the beginning, my '78 244 was running fine until it was low on gas. When low the car would start to jerk. Not a problem, filling with gas would solve.

Six months later (now) my car does not run well even on a full tank of gas. When I rev the engine while parked every thing sounds fine. While on the road, as I accelerate the car jerks sparaticly every second or two. It feels like the engine is only getting gas once in a while.

I have been to three different mechanics, they all sent me home with no answers or answers that I have fixed.

The first mechanic said he ran pressure tests on the fuel system and they all came out good.

The third told me I had a bad fuel pump.

Not a lot of sense is made by this.

Things I have replaced:

Spark Plugs & Wires

Fuel Pump

Fuel Pump Relay

Fuel Filter

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
