replaced fuel pump relay, still gets burnin hot. 200 82

i replaced the fuel pump relay under the dash and it still gets hots after driving for a while. i have a new main pump. the problem was happening before the new pump. i notice on the black plug that connects to the relay, it has a melted corner where a thick red wire is. i dont know if this has anything to do with it or not. where do i start to diagnose next? i am not good with electrical problems. thanks will
