Hi Everyone,
I have a 1989 240DL and for the 3rd time while driving it the engine completely went dead with no warning at all. All the lights come on the dash and after it stalls you can crank the engine but it won't start. I tried to use the computer engine diagnostic to see if it would read a fault code: light comes on when pressing button but it refuses to work also. So after a while the engine starts again like nothing ever happened, and I tested engine computer and the fault codes are are 1-1-1(no problems?). I thought it might be the ignition coil so I tested the primary resistance (1-) - (15+) and the resistance was only .8 ohms. In the Bentley it says that it should be between 1.8 - 2.0 ohms(Is this correct???) I just put new spark plugs in it and a new wire set last week and checked the distributor cap and rotor to see that there were no cracks. Maybe I am loosing the ground to something? I am totally confused by this problem and worried I will get stalled in the middle of no where. If anyone can be of any asistance it will be greatly appreciated. Again many thanks Michael
