I have a 1984 245DL with a B23F engine and LH-2.0 fuel injection.
My car had been running a little bit rich and finally died on me a while back, it was totally flooded. I took it to a shop and they confirmed the things I had checked. AMM, tempature sensor, air idle motor, fuel pressure regulator, throttle switch all OK. They had a spare ECU and installed it. It ran fine! I bought a used ECU and put it in and it ran fine for a short time then flooded again. I noticed that some of the insulation on the wiring was gone and I went through and repaired all of the bad wiring (didn't want to spend $400 for a new harness). One wire that was grounding out was to a sensor with only one wire located on the block right below and between the 2nd and 3rd cylinder intakes. When I got the wiring harness back in and hooked up it ran for 5 seconds and abruptly died. I could smell gas. I checked spark, fuel pressure regulator, injectors all OK. The only thing I can think of is that a wire grounding out killed the "new" ECU. I don't really want to spend the money for a new ECU without knowing if they really are bad and why both of them died.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
