744 Turbo-info? 700 ALL

I was thinking about a 744 turbo to replace my now dead '84 240GL.

How different is the running gear? Assuming that the engine is a B230FT and mitsubishi turbo.

Any particularly good/bad years?

What was the last year available with a standard tranny (M46)?
