I've checked the FAQ's and I don't think it's in there. So any help would be great.
I have an '85 760T that has 212,600 miles. Yes, I'm the one who just purchased her for $900. Might be the best investment I've ever made. She's so easy to work on, and with some front brake work and some decent tires I have her running REAL smooth. It needs new shocks/struts and then I should be good for a while.
Enough background, onto my question. I don't plan on doing this too often to a 16 year old car, but I tried a very hard acceleration out of 1st and second gear the other day (blowing the doors off a POS Cavilier) and my 760T wasn't too happy with that. Up to about 2000 rpm it is all good, but when the boost kicks in and snaps my head back, the car surges like it just ran out of gas (snapping my head foward), a second later it kicks back in with another violent head-whipping, then another surge, head whipping, surge, by this time it's ready for second gear. In second it still does it, but not as violently.
At first I thought it was something with the Turbo or wastegate, but now I think it might be fuel related. Like the fuel pump cant keep up with the large demand for gas at that point, or my fuel filter is preventing the fuel pump from providing the volume of gas.
Any of this sound right, or familiar to anyone? I'm confident I can fix this so I can continue to put kids in their Cav-a-qeers to shame.
Thanks,
Mark S
