Sluggish: Timing trouble? 200 84

Just replaced the timing belt on my 1984 245. I've lost a whole lot of power. Sluggish off the line, and have nowhere near the top end I used to have. I got the timing marks really close, but they're probably not perferct.

Does this sluggishness and loss of power sound timing-belt related? Am I indeed probably off by a little?

I know that checking with a timing light is the last step of replacing a t-belt, but I don't have a timing light. I'll probably have my mechanic do the fine tuning with a light. Can this probably be fixed by tweeking the distributor (rather than going back in and re-doing the belt)?
