Bubbles in the sight glass. (R-12)

Anybody know if adding leak detection fluid is a DIY job?

I have no guages, or any other equipment.

Would just like to know where it might be leaking before taking it sommeplace.

Last charge was about 2-3 summers ago, when R-12 sold here at $91 a pound!
