1992 240 Wagon
Car is experiencing hard starts during summer months. Hard starts occur usually after car has been running recently but if it's hot enough outside it can occur on the first start of the day. Subsequent starts during the day, as when running errands, get increasingly difficult. Often, even after the car has started, it dies when you put it into gear. Once the car is moving it usually runs ok.
This has been going on for several years. The mechanics blame dirty fuel injection throttle body and charge $100 to clean. The problem might be slightly improved after cleaning but certainly not cured and the improvement is only temporary. Last year, when the problem started again, I removed and inspected the throttle body and it seemed completely clean. We have tried fuel injector cleaner and running all grades of gas without improvement. Have others experienced similar with the 240s?
Thanks,
KenO.
