Rear Caliper Pistons 200 1987

I just did a front and rear brake job with new rear rotors (ATE) and PBR pads. Nice smooth braking now. The inboard rear caliper pistons were very hard to press back into the calipers. I had to use a socket and a "C" clamp to press the pistons back. Why so hard? I need to bleed the brakes all around yet, and I suspect that moisture and dirt/rust is the culprit that has caused the pistons to seize up. The front pistons were easy to press back in comparison. Any ideas on this? Thanx.
