I have a 89 760 Turbo with 420,000 well cared for kilometers. Recently while travelling home after a long day on the road the car behaved like it was starving of fuel. After sitting for a little while and turning the key on and off repeatedly the car runs fine. The dealer identifies a worn Fuel Pump relay and replaces it. However the fault returns. I doesn't seem to involve the spark. When it first happens you can get the car to run at idle very lumpily but as any residual fuel is burned the car will not start until left to sit. Ideas??? Bad fuel filter?,,,when It happens I can remove the fuel rail return line and there is absolutely nothing,,,too excessive a fault to be a filter I think. Is there another relay somewhere that is temperature sensitive? Thanks for any ideas.
