5 1/4 door panels vs 6 1/2 door panels, are the "holes" in the metal behind the door the same? 700 1988

Hey all,

Just a quick mind boggler, i don't have a later model 740 with the 6 1/2 holes in the panels...i was wondering if these panels would fit an 88, and if the hole in the door (where the magnet sits)? i have installed pioneer "bullet" splits (top of range 6.5 inch verisons) and the door panels can't actually take the weight, i need to reinforce the next panel, obviously....But fitting the 6.5 inch into 5.25 inch holes was a REAL challenge, if getting new door trims can help this problem (i.e. maybe just a NEAR screw in fit?! I would also like stock "volvo" grills to fit over the midbass driver)....then new door trims it must be.....
