Several of you offered help on my overdrive not working on a recent post. I took your advice and checked the wiring, got under the car, and pulled out the glove box to inspect my newly installed (that I did not need to buy)relay. Then I remembered someone said to check the fuse>>>>. Blown big time. Next time I will start with the easiest thing first. I have no idea why the fuse would blow out??
But I also had the problem of not being able to start the car after I put things back. The lights on the dash came on but the car would not start. So I remembered there are safety controls for making sure everything is right. So I decided to try starting in neutral. Started right up. I discovered that when I had removed the cover to the shifter I also removed the 2 screws on the side of the shifter thinking I could maybe see the wires better. When I put it back together I had not pushed the shifter forward. This allowed the safety contacts to not work so the car would not start in Park. So if you want to fool a thief loosen your shifter pull it back a little then tighten the screws. Now you can only start the car in neutral, not park. Might fool a dimwit thief who would not think to shift to neutral!
