Occasional backfire 700 1991

Hi there. I'm new to this brickboard but really glad I came accross it.

About 3 months ago, my '91 740GL has started backfiring. It's always a single and realy loud POP like a gun shot or a detonator. It does it very rarely but is starting to worry me. The regularity would probably be about 1 backfire a month.

Can fuel injector cleaners do this? I used injector cleaners a few times when the engine was idling rough last summer.

Otherwise what is the cause and how do I rectify it?
