change of heater valve advice 700 1988

Hello,

Please can somebody help with advice on the procedure to change the heater valve on a 740 Gl 1988.

I remember last time changing it, I had problems connecting the control wire to the valve. ( The wire I only disconnected at the valve.) The arm the wire attached to can easily be bent and cause damage to the valve, leading to leakage of the valve.

The second hand one has now lasted 4 years. Should I go for a new one from an independent dealer selling non-original parts?
