Friends,
I'm doing some work on my Laycock J-type overdrive as long as I've got my M-46 gearbox out doing the clutch. It had been exhibiting all the classic symtems of wear so I bought an overdrive rebuild kit from IPD. Here's my question:
I've taken out the piston bridges and the two main pistons (if those are the two main pistons underneath the bridges). They have sort of turquoise nylon seals on them, about the cross sectional area of a fine o-ring and sort of triangular in cross section. I wasn't provided anything like that in my kit. I have two O-rings in the kit that are a bit smaller than the old seals. Is that what the blue nylon seals get replaced with? It looks like a bit of a stretch. There is one in the kit that is almost exactly the same size as the old seals but only one.
I've never had my overdrive replaced or overhauled so It's got to be original to the car.
IPD is closed and I'm hoping to use the long weekend to get this baby back together. Any help would be appreciated.
