Blower/A/C shuts off when turbo engages 900 1991

1991 940SE 138k mi

Any ideas why my blower motor shuts down whenever the turbo needs to spool up? At freeway speeds with no load on the turbo, the blower runs fine, although the AC is not nearly as cold as i'd like, but when I meet a slight grade and the turbo spools up, the blower fades to nil. Is this an amperage/alternator/voltage regulator problem or something else entirely? Help!
