G'day all!
THE STORY:My good old brick had an interesting problem last week. It's never burnt oil or leaked (which makes my bi-weekly check of fluids a bit of a waste of 5mins!) but last week the engine made that dreaded noise of death.....no oil at the cam!
It had about 2L in the pan and the bottom half of the engine was black/soaked! I poured in 1L of oil to try and get me home (luck it wasn't far) and it just dripped out near the rear main seal.
I took it in to my local workshop (family friend) and they cleaned the entire engine and checked the rear main seal without pulling the tranny.......no leak to be found. I've driven it since with daily checks on the oil and there is a little oil coming from the pan seal.
I wnat to change the oil pump and install a HD relief valve spring from IPD so the pan has to come out.
THE QUESTION: I don't want to pull the engine out if I don't have to, so could someone please post some resonably detailed instructions of how to remove the pan without removing the engine.
Thanks All!!!!!
