Hello,
I just replaced the transmission that I think was original in this car for one out of a 80 240. Everything went pretty well, I just had to swap some parts from the original tranny. Now, the transmission works, but the clutch slips real bad. If I give the car a little more gas than what I need to slowly accelerate, the clutch slips resulting in nearly no acceleration. Before I replaced the transmission the clutch was working great. The chilton's and haynes said I should clean the metal surfaces the clutch plate rubs against. I did that. Also, a bunch of dust and dirt came out of the clutch. I don't know if i've adjusted it right, but my assistant tells me that when I loosen the cable the clutch pedal in the car moves up. Any ideas what I've done wrong, or if the clutch needs replacing, what does a bad clutch look like?
Thanks,
Nathan
