Rebuilding Hydraulic Hoses ALL

Anybody had any luck in rebuilding power steering high pressure hoses? Our local hydraulic repair guy claims he can rebuild Gates hoses but that Volvo will be a crapshoot because of different crimp fittings. Being the cheapskate I am, I would rather rebuild than replace, even from Borton. Advice?
