Does anyone know what a good average mpg is for a '79 240 (160'000 miles), fuel injected, four speed w/OD is? My car has been getting about 6 km per litre (which I think is about 16 mpg if my calculations are right-I'm Canadian, eh.) This seems a bit exessive to me. I've noticed that there is often the smell of gas when the car is idling and that it idles rough on a cold start until I rev it up and give it enough gas, then it runs smooth, lags a bit on hills. Does this sound normal for a car of this age? Could these symptoms (smell of gas, rough start, excessive fuel consumption) be connected? Any helpful hints or suggestions of things to check would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
