Hello, I have a question I am hoping someone can help me with. I have an 87 760 Turbo Wagon. It has been cutting out while driving for about a month now. It will start up fine, and all of a sudden it will just shut off like Ive turned the key off. And after sitting for awhile, it starts up and drives fine. I took it into a shop and they wont even look at it until I replace the wiring harness. And, I agree, it is in pretty bad shape. I think that it is not getting any spark due to the badly deteriorated harness. Anyway, one day when I was driving it shut off and I noticed a spray of oil on the cement under the car. I could not determine where the oil was coming from, but when I pulled out the dipstick the oil was 1 inch above the full line. I know I didnt fill it up past the full line ever. I thought it was strange until I smelled the oil. It smelled just like gas. I have no clue how gas could get into the oil. I also have no idea where the spray under the car came from (it also has the gas smell). My question is if anyone knows how the oil could get contaminated with gas and if it would be worth fixing. I am going to drain the oil this weekend to hopefully minimize damage. I would love to keep this car. It is my favorite car ever. I am going to replace the wiring harness first, and Ive been told that would be about $1200.00. So the gas in oil problem will be an additional cost. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
