Urgent, fuel relay operation???? 700 88

My 740 is dead. cranks but won't kick in. Fuel pump wasn't pumping so I went to fuel pump relay. It has two coils one activates other won't. I manually threw second coil and voila, pump went on. Unfortunately, car still cranks but won't kick in (pump keeps running). Shouldn't it start with manual intervention on the relay ???or am I missing some other funtion. I don't want to go buy a new relay and find out something else is causing it not to energize.

Any suggestions?
