Lopside tunes! 700 1987

My '87 only has the right side radio speakers working. To be more specific I have very little coming out of the drivers side; you can just hear it with the volumn all the up and the balance set all the way left! I have tried to follow the wiring but it gets lost in the wiring harness. All of the connections on the speakers seem clean and tight. I pulled them off and re-connected them several times. It seems like there is a bad ground connection somewhere. Any ideas on how to trouble shoot this problem?
