I got my Volvo 245 out of the shop today about my overdrive not working right. It sometimes is there, more often not. I hit the overdrive button on the shifter and the OD OFF light comes on but no clicking or downshifting takes place. I hit the button again the light goes off and stays off till I shut down the engine. My mechanic checked the relay, fine, checked the solenoid, fine, came to conclusion that it is an internal Transmission problem. All fluid levels are where they should be.
Am I screwed? Am I going to be looking at putting in a rebuilt tranny or have somebody bust into this to fix it.
What kind of cha-ching am going to looking at for this or even a used tranny to put in it.
The engine only has 11,000 miles on it and the body is in good condition.
Everything else about the car is perfect but with no overdrive on the freeway is not good for extended periods of time.
Someone HELLLLLLP!!!
