Throttle Body 700 89

Hello,

I'm about as mechanical as a rock, but could someone out there give me the symptoms of a dirty throttle body? Could this cause the idle control motor to be a little off, such as surging slightly & causing the car to jump into gear on start up? My mechanic told me that the throttle body was dirty and needed cleaning, and I plan to have this done very soon.

I love my 740 GL but I sure wish I'd known about the need for a flame trap change. Now I've got a leak to deal with. I'm hoping that the leak is just O-rings serals rather than the rear main seal. Has anyone ever had these o-ring seals replaced? Any idea of the cost?

I appreciate any feedback, and I really enjoy the board!

JOHN W.
