I'm looking for new tires for my 1989 Volvo 740 Wagon. I live in Wyoming, and my driving goes from highway to gravel, though mostly highway.
I keep seeing Michelin MX4 tires reccomended, though they have low treadwear rating. Costco has them on sale this month, I could get a set for $450.00, or a set of Bridgestone 930i's ???(AKA Firestone) for $270, quite a bit less. Of course, I always believe one gets what one pays for. My sister (91 volvo 745) has the Michelin X-1 's on her car,( 80,000 treadwear rating) but tire rack said no,no, thats a passenger car tire and I should look at the Michelin MX4 tires. Frankly, I'm starting to get confused. ANY suggestions would be appreciated. I'm not hung up on the Costco deal, just thought I should shop around for something reasonable to drive my very valuable family around with. For once in my life, I was relly dissapointed in the last consumer reports article on tires. Any other sources out there would be a help too.
Thanks.
