Cold start and run 200 1984

Seems there is no "choke" per say, but something isn't happening right! The car runs fine at normal operating temp (maybe a slight hesitation at initial throtle response) but just after start and untill the engine reaches operating temp, the idle is low (700RPM) and surges, and will sputter out and die. Acts just like it needs a little "choke". Where is the temp sensor located for the computer? I have replaced the temp sensor for the factory guage with a mechanical unit. Hope the two aren't tied together!
