THE BATTERY IN MY 1989 740 WAGON HAS BEEN REPEATEDLY GOING DEAD. HAD BATTERY, ALTERNATOR, ETC. CHECKED WITH RESULTS=NO TROUBLE FOUND. ALL I HAD TO DO WAS RECHARGE THE BATTERY WITH MY BOAT BATTERY CHARGER, AND IT WOULD BE OK FOR SEVERAL DAYS. FINALLY REMEMBERED PROBLEM STARTED AFTER I HAD A LOCAL UPHOLSTERY SHOP INSTALL A NEW HEADLINER. I CALLED A SERVICE REP I KNOW AT VOLVO DEALER IN DALLAS AND HE SAID HE HAD SEEN DOME LIGHT "CIRCUIT HOT" PROBLEM THAT CAUSED THIS SYMPTOM.
I TOOK GLASS OUT OF DOME LIGHT ASSEMBLY, REMOVED THE THREE WIRES THAT GO ONTO CLIPS THEREIN, AND TROUBLE SEEMS TO HAVE GONE AWAY. I WANTED TO REMOVE WIRES FROM REAR DOOR CEILING LIGHT, BUT CANNOT FIGURE HOW TO REMOVE GLASS FROM THAT ONE. FOLLOWING ARE MY SPECIFIC PLEAS FOR HELP FROM YOU:
1. CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO REMOVE THE REAR DOOR CEILING LIGHT GLASS WITHOUT BREAKING IT SO I CAN REMOVE WIRES INSIDE? ALSO, CAN YOU TELL ME WHICH WIRES IN THAT LIGHT BELONG ON WHAT CONNECTION...COLOR CODES WILL HELP.
2. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHICH WIRES GO TO WHICH TERMINAL LUGS IN THE MAIN DOME LIGHT THAT I ALREADY HAVE DISCONNECTED THE WIRES. TWO OF THE WIRES HAVE METAL CLIPS; ONE OF THESE WIRES IS BROWN, THE OTHER IS BLACK. THE THIRD WIRE HAS A PLASTIC COVERED CLIP ASSEMBLY AND IS A TWO WIRE RED AND GREEN COLOR CABLE.
