AC Compressor install allignment problem-New Data with measurements

I just measured the distance from the mounting flange to the edge of the pulley on the old compressor. The distance is 2 3/16 inches. Measuring the new compressor, the distance is just 2.00 inches. Apparently the old compressor pulley was 3/16 of an inch further out. Is it possible to shim the pulley (clutch)out 3/16 of an inch to match the old compressor. Or any ideas how to make up the difference.
