Let me introduce Roxanne, my 1986 245 wagon with over 200,000 miles on her...new problems arise...she was dying at startup as soon as I would put her in gear but would start right up again. I had mechanic clean throttle body, flame trap, check vacuum hoses, etc. It was all gunked up pretty bad he said. He adjusted idle back down once he did that because we had adjusted while it was clogged so it wouldn't die. After a week it is idling rough again, sometimes sputters and almost dies at stoplight (and I have to go through lots of those!) and this morning she started pretty rough and died as I was driving, turning a corner. That spooked me because of our heavy and violent traffic patterns here in Hampton Roads so I went home and had husband drive me to work. He can set idle up for me tonight but I wanted advice from anyone on what else to check or suggest to my mechanic to check if setting idle up doesn't work or isn't a good option. Also, is the IPD flame trap relocation a good idea if I'm having a lot of clogging of the flame trap? I have some oil leaks, the rear main seal has been leaking but I'm waiting to have that done when the tranny goes (it's a sluggish auto transmission that has seemed like it was going out for the past year but is still hanging on!) Thanks again in advance for all the help I know will come my way!! You guys are the BEST!
