indicator lights blaze then engine cuts off while driving 900 93

While driving my 93 volvo 940's indicator lights bl;aze like a Christmas tree then the engine suddenly cuts out. the car restarts immediatly after and operates normally. There is no forwarning and the car is not jolted by a bump in the road or anything. It has happened on smooth surfaces. Anyone have a clue.
