High rpms 700 86

I know I've already asked this question, but I am still in dispute with the mechanic who left the idle at 2000 rpm. They state that 2000rpm would not damage the car and I believe it would.

Could anyone out there just explain to me what damage high rpms can have on a 740gle, 175,000miles? 2000rpm in park and drops to 1000 to 1200 in drive and reverse, I mean the can goes wham and pow!! I need assistance in explaining myself to the mechanic.

Thank you.

Maria Brown
