Timing with Vacuum gauge: which connection? 200 1981

I have been unable to adjust the timing on my B23E (the mechanic who swapped the engine before I got the car replaced the crank pulley with one that has no mark on it). A timing light doesn't work very good when you have no reference to point it at, eh?

I remember from earlier experiences with other cars that you can do a fine job of setting the ignition timing by attaching a vacuum gauge somewhere and adjusting the timing until you get the highest possible reading. My question is: where is the best place on this engine to attach the gauge?

Thanks in advance for all your help.
