My 164 runs hot. It always has. I've replaced the water pump,

rebuilt the radiator with a 3 core unit and put in a new volvo 180

degree thermostat. The water temp stays right dead center on

the gauge and spikes up into the red when I turn the motor off.

I've seen this with two different gauges and 2 different voltage

regulators, so I'm inclined to believe it.

My 144 with a B18 and my 122 stay right on the line that's 1/3rd

of the way across; when it's really hot out my 164 will linger

at beyond the half way point, worse if I've got to sit there for a

while.

The car runs pretty well, leaks a little oil from the rear main

seal, doesn't seem to burn any, and in general is a pretty good

little tractor, but I worry that I'm driving a timebomb.

Oh, and just recently I switched from delo 400 to mobil 1. I

hope the rear main seal leak doesn't turn into a flood. I haven't

noticed the temp gauge change at all since the swap, but then it

hasn't been too long. Walmart had a sale of 5qts of mobil 1 15-50

for $16.50 so I got a bunch, even though I hate walmart.
