Hey all,
It took me almost four weeks of work but I finally got the engine fully assembled in my new 242 (sat three years and needed a head gasket among other things) I tried it a few times with no luck. Adjusted the timing and it tried to start but wouldn't. Adjusted it a little more and it started but only for about two seconds then died. I don't want to play with the timing anymore cause I think its okay now. When I crank the engine it will start but after two or three seconds it stops powering itself and goes back to the starter motor for power. I have spark on all four cylinders. I pulled the #1 injector to check for gas and it seems that thats my problem. When the engine is cranked, the injector spits out a tiny bit of fuel at first then nothing. Is this a sign of a bad injector or just one thats clogged? How should I clean them? Can I just soak them in kerosene or should I have them professionally cleaned? Thanks for any suggestions.
