siezed brake calipers 200 83

While doing a brake job I discovered that both pistons on the passenger side inner side of the caliper are stuck. How can i free them up? How was it that I could stop the car without a lot of vibration apparent in the front end? Can I rebuild this using parts from a caliper from an 84 with vented discs - and put them in my calipers for non - vented? Thanks.
