Is this a doable DIY job or one for highly skilled techs only? I would say my level is beginner to medium. Most complicated jobs I did were a timing belt and some electrical diagnosis and went over a 26 point low gas mileage troubleshooting checklist. Have floor jack, common tools, some special tools.
Second question - can this part be repaired and/or cleaned to restore proper operation?
Our overdrive light can always be turned on, but we are sometimes experiencing it staying on for over the maximum two minute time period in the computer memory. The problem is getting worse, as it sometimes comes on by itself, usually right after being switched off.
I examined and tested the relay switch, looked at the # 12 fuse, moved the 15 amp fuses around a bit to make sure, but that all checked out okay. I didn't check the overdrive switch itself (in the gear shift knob). Not sure if that is needed.
Thank you all as usual,
Robert
