changing my water pump: What a headache!!!!!! 200 '86

I've posted before on my weekend's disparing loss of coolant in my '86 rustbucket (245DL) due to a ruptured upper water pump seal.

First I call the only Sunday open partsstore in our area and they say they don't have the seal... but they have the water pump (a cheap aftermarket which I returned a couple of weeks ago because my enlightened Volvo automechanics, 3 no less, said I didn't need a water pump and mine's okay... despite the fact I could hear the fan pully rubbing and making a racket on the front fan belt tightener flange as the shaft of said waterpump was shortened and slightly out of true... but admittedly still pumping and turning..... this after going through hell finding out my thermo gauge was out of kilter 3 monthes ago.

Then i am stranded with a puddle of coolant under the car only 2 weeks after visiting the last Volvo expert...

so this time I am doing it myself....

But getting the new pump on is a real pain.

getting that top most right hand screw in while prying up with the wood block is so far not working...

This after the parts store idiot said the first time I came that the said water pump was on their computor and not on the shelves ... (I sort of knew he was a idiot.... but left the store... then later thought at least I'll get the real gasket instead about 6 o'clock... and then went back in the shelves myself and found the waterpump myself!!!)

with old Volvos it maybe "Do It Yourself" is the best way... but getting that waterpump on would have been easier if the Experts had seen the problem while in their nice shops instead of me doing it at night in the rain....
