940GLE 2.4TD, Ticking noise? 900 1994

I have had to replace the cylinder head due to cracks and now since it has been fixed I am getting a continous "ticking noise" at high speed above 2500rpm and it gets louder when the engine is under load like climbing a hill. I have got it checked by Volvo mechanics and they tell me its normal, but I know it is not because before the head change it was not like that. Anyone knows what it could be, I am aware of the vacumn pump making a similar noise but from what I have read it comes and goes.
