AC Expansion Valve Temp Monitor Line Clamped to Evaporator 200 1986

Hello

We are in the process of replacing the expansion valve. Does the small brass line leading to the evaporator have to go to the exact same place.

The old line leads up into the evaporator and seems to require removal of a considerable amount of glove box and exterior cover to the evaporator.

Does anyone clamp the monitor line to the evaporator pipe which is accesssible.

Also this is our first time and the expansion valve seals seem to have been sucked in when dismantling even though the system was emptied by our shop.
