OK, so I am having some front end problems with my '85 240DL. Don't know a whole lot about suspension/front end parts, but here are the problems: pulls to the right, even though I have the alignment dead on. Also, hear a "popping" sound coming from the right, usually when I hit a bump, and the car shudders at > 50 mph, but only when turning to the left, not the right. Also, noticed that the inner face of the left front tire is badly worn. And, when I stand over the engine compartment and compress the right strut, can replicate the popping noise on the way up, and also hear a strong "sliding" or rubbing noise from the right strut. Both the popping and rubbing are absent from the left strut. The tie rod ends have recently been replaced (just got the car). Are these signs of a bad right strut, or something else? If so, what sort of money am I looking at to do it myself, or to have it done professionally? Thanks!
